File Validation is the fastest and most accurate way to clean a large email list inside SanitizeEmail. It checks each email for deliverability, removes duplicates before charging credits, skips invalid formats, and returns a cleaned output file that keeps your original structure.

This feature is ideal when you want to clean:

• Newsletter subscribers
• CRM exports
• Lead generation lists
• Old databases before sending campaigns

What File Validation Does

1. Detects Your Email Column

SanitizeEmail works with CSV and XLSX files. The system automatically identifies where the email addresses are.

There are two scan modes:

• Structured file upload: Scans the unique email column only
• Unstructured file upload: Scans every column to find emails

Your original column structure is always preserved.

2. Removes Duplicate Emails (No Credits Charged)

All duplicates are skipped and do not count toward your credit usage.

3. Performs Full Deliverability Validation

Each unique email goes through a complete verification process that includes:

• Syntax validation
• DNS lookup
• DMARC check
• SMTP mailbox validation
• Risk and deliverability checks

Each unique email uses 1 credit.

4. Preserves Your File Layout

SanitizeEmail keeps your original file layout exactly as it is. New columns are added to show:

• Email result
• Status reason

Step-by-Step: Validate a File

Step 1: Open File Validation

Go to your dashboard and click File Validation.

Step 2: Upload Your File

Supported formats:

• CSV
• XLSX

Drag and drop your file or select it from your computer.

Choose one of the upload modes:

• Structured: For clean files with column headers
• Unstructured: For mixed data files where emails appear anywhere

Step 3: Automatic Processing

SanitizeEmail will:

• Identify the email column
• Scan all columns if you selected unstructured mode
• Remove duplicate emails
• Validate all remaining emails

You will see real-time progress while your file is being processed.

Step 4: Review the Final Results and Download your file

After validation, you will see:

• Valid
• Invalid
• Unknown
• Errors (if any)

Each email includes a clear status and explanation.
